A Farewell to Corporate Careers
A realization that comes with age
There comes a moment when the old kings begin to look tired. It’s tragic, yet inevitable.
I don’t mean kings with crowns. I mean the modern ones. Corporate leaders. The people with strategy decks, quarterly targets, stakeholder language, and polished statements. The calm voices that believe the system will always protect them.
Every week, my wife and I do the groceries. And every week we feel the same small shock.
Raspberries. Strawberries. Blackberries. Blueberries. Cherries. Apples. Vegetables.
The ordinary, beautiful things in life. The things that make every breakfast feel like a warm summer day. The things you put in your basket because they seem healthy, simple, and honest.
And then you see the price.
At first, you laugh. Then you check again. Then you become quiet. Then annoyed. Then almost suspicious. The suspicion only grows when you plot the prices for each run to the supermarket, based on the data provided by the supermarket’s own app. I did this last week and here are the results:
