Oh No, I’ve Become a Bullshit Artist, and You Should Consider It Too

“Hello.”
I have been receiving more and more TEAMS messages like this recently.
A generic greeting. And then silence.
And I’m never sure how to react.
Should I respond with something similar and simple like “hello,” or maybe “how can I help you?” or even “what do you want?”
Or should I do what I normally do and ignore it? And if I’m in a particularly grumpy or vindictive mood, I will occasionally block the sender who uses such trawling tactics.
Why can’t senders write a complete sentence to explain what they need from me? It would be much more efficient — for both of us.
I am comfortable with doing nothing. It saves me time. And if it’s really important, a question will inevitably come.
And so, it was that ten minutes later, the conversation continued.
“I just noticed we have an item on artificial intelligence on this afternoon’s agenda. I’m not prepared. What should we do?”
I got this TEAMS message an hour before the meeting started. The sender had approved the agenda weeks ago but only reviewed it more…
