“Total freedom. Master of your domain. Ever seen Seinfeld?”

No response.

“More of a Friends guy, I guess?”

Daniel — “Danny” — LaRusso tries to strike up conversation with one of his former rivals, Chozen Toguchi. The fifth episode of the third season of Cobra Kai.

When Danny refers to a memorable Seinfeld quote and gets no reaction, he concludes that Chozen is more of a Friends person. He is hinting at the Friends versus Seinfeld rivalry of the 1990s?

Danny’s remark has been on my mind for some weeks now.

What Am I?

Seinfeld or Friends. Friends or Seinfeld.

These shows are enjoying a “second life” on popular streaming platforms. Like many people, I am re-watching episodes of the most popular television sitcoms of the 1990s.

Television. It used to dominate our lives and popular culture in a way that is hard to imagine now.

But this nostalgia trip makes me happy. I love watching TV shows from the 80s and 90s or a newer TV series, like Cobra Kai, that contains multiple references to that time.
