A comfortable chair. A cup of mint tea. And today’s newspaper. Everything I need after a long day away from home.

When life is super busy, we crave those peaceful moments when we pause and step away from the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Little things that allow us to quietly escape reality and reenergize. Calming moments that help us to re-charge our batteries for the (many) challenges to come.

So, when I got home last week after a three-hour drive from an exhausting meeting, I looked forward to a relaxing couple of hours doing nothing and catching up on world affairs. Some time without any pressure and external interference. No messages. No email. Just me, myself, and the news of the day.

I love the “old world” creature comforts.

We have had a subscription to the local newspaper for more than thirty years. And although we have frequently discussed canceling the home delivery subscription, we have never done so.

Maybe it is hard to let old habits go? An engrained inertia to change. Or perhaps it is just laziness?
