Was I Wrong? Why We Absolutely Need Another Hero

We must learn to swim like the dolphins can swim and steal back a little time.

There isn’t much positivity about being stuck in traffic.

Wasting time is stressful, especially as you get older

Occasionally, however, being stuck in traffic can be a blessing. It allows us to just take in what is going on around us. It helps us pause, take stock, and reflect on the world.

You then quickly realize that it doesn’t have to be a waste of time, and you are free to ponder essential things that usually don’t get much attention.

And there is something about cars and traffic that is a perfect mirror of society. The combination of the automobile — the symbol of twentieth-century personal freedom and the triumph of industrial production — and gridlock — the twenty-first-century breakdown of the whole system and resulting disappointments and despair.

Sitting in the traffic, just for a moment, everything falls into sharp focus, and we can see things as they truly are.

Like the question of whether and why we might need heroes.

Not an issue I would ordinarily consider on a warm Friday evening.
