Are Electric Cars Really the Future? Don’t Give Up On Your Old Ride Yet.
Perhaps it’s time to reconsider.
In 2022, I asked the question, “Are electric cars dying?” I shared the story of my wife and me as early adopters of electric vehicles. We overcame the initial challenges of “range and charging point anxiety” and were thrilled to be at the forefront of the EV revolution. Back then, there were very few charging stations available, and the car’s range was not more than 150 miles, despite the manufacturer’s claims of having a longer driving range.
We changed our driving habits to boost the efficiency of our electric vehicle. However, we had some close calls with the car’s range due to unexpected detours. This led us to switch back to a hybrid car.
Also, my wife’s job requirements changed, and she had to cover more miles than we had initially anticipated. Estimating the exact number of miles she needed to drive every day became challenging, and she often ended up going to places where EV chargers were not yet available.
Fast forward to today, and the landscape appears both changed and unchanged.
